What we thought of Gadget Show Live

It all starts and ends very well. Round half 8 this morning we get in our sparkling white limousine which is always a novel experience in itself. There's champagne in the cooler and as soon as we've chosen our seats we pop open the bubbly and watch Snatch on the DVD player.
So that's all well and good but then comes the problem: the Gadget Show convention itself. First there's hassle about tickets not nice when your meant to have won them in a competition. Then you walk into what can only be described as a combination of a giant HMV and PC world. Its interesting but 99% of what there selling you've already got a version of. Though the 3D tv's and games were interesting, the fact that you had to crouch at a certain angle to see the 3D effect reduced the enjoyability.
But the worst is yet to come. The Gadget Show Live. Oh dear. What this essentially consisted of was a motley collection of randomness that had nothing to do with gadgets. Its hard to decide what was worse. The pervy use of Suzi Perry in a tight leather cat suit which gained wolf whistles from sweaty nerds sitting next to their wives (which was kosher apparently), the fake jet packs which were actually very visible wires or the shameless selling of the "collectors edition" Gadget Show magazine.
Still parts were mildly entertaining and certainly for the more geeky among us the actual convention held genuine interest with impressive examples of computer power. However the show is really best surmised by the following: a lack of cool, half heartedness and a shameless selling of merchandise which other people were paying for.
So its a big thumbs down for the Gadget Show Live were the main highlight was clips from an actually quite enjoyable TV show.
