Summertime ponderings from the south of France

You should be impressed I can write at all. This heat is quite oppressive, my brains a little frazzled.

Ah well. Least there's this grape juice refreshingly cold and everything. So what's happening in the big wide world? Nothing that dramatic truth be told. Summer makes for quite silly new's stories.

World cup is over, a lot of us will have been unsurprised by Spain's victory and that excitement is quite finished. We did badly but better than France which suits me just fine.

Roman Polanski escapes extradition to the US again which proves not all is wrong with the world. For a full time line click this link http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2010/jul/12/roman-polanski-timeline

Hearteningly Michael Gove the Education Secretary is being hammered by MP's across the political spectrum for scrapping schools to save money. The conservatives are beginning to learn some things are just unacceptable. Meanwhile Cameron is on holiday in Cornwall which may be bad timing but is good news because it means he's not involved in the government.

Totally unrelated to the Conservatives crazy policies the economy has grown 0.3% in the first quarter which may seem small but is a sign of good things to come. Unsurprisingly the jingoistic omens of doom purported by the Tories have proven false, lets hope they don't ruin things now.

I'm off to the charming rock pool now, of this village that seems so very far away from the greater world. Back soonish though.

Also for those who haven't read it I would recommend Frank Herbert's Dune series a genuine piece of extraordinary literature invaluable for expanding the philosophical nature of the mind.

Be casual. Be happy.
